Frequently Asked Questions
Many people have questions about working with a Professional Organizer. Questions are expected and reasonable. Below are a few common questions:
What does a Professional Organizer do?
Professional organizers set up customized systems and teach organizing skills to help their clients take charge of their space, time, paper and technology.
There is so much clutter in our home; I’m embarrassed to let anyone in.
Where you see clutter, we see solutions. We treat our clients with respect and courtesy and we keep all client information confidential. We serve our clients with a non-judgmental and objective attitude
Should I clean up before our appointment?
No, seeing your home as it is provides us with information about your particular organizing challenges.
Do I have to be there or can you do it for me?
We offer both services. We believe the best way for you to get organized is to work with us so can learn how to stay organized. If you prefer to come home to an efficient and well-designed space, we can take care of everything. In that case, we have an initial meeting with you and discuss your goals for the area or areas you would like organized.
Are you going to make me throw things away?
As organizers, we don’t decide what you should toss and what you should keep. We help you determine which items you use and are of value to you.
How long does it take to get organized?
Organization is a process and each individual works at a different pace. How quickly we complete a job depends on several factors: your availability, how quickly you make decisions in sorting through your things, the time you can dedicate to the process, the amount of paper and the area we are organizing. We can help you set up an organizing system and teach you skills to get and keep you organized. Then, you will be able to practice your new habits to maintain the new state of order. We are always available for maintenance sessions. Contact us for your free phone consultation.
Is using a Professional Organizer expensive?
Hiring a Professional Organizer can be the best investment you make. When your home is truly organized, you will be more productive, and spend more time doing what you choose to do, instead of looking for the things you need. Our clients have found cash, checks, keys, important documents and all kinds of forgotten treasures. Just as important as finding lost items is the time and money you will save from replacing them. Ultimately, the sense of serenity and calm that comes from living and working in an organized home is priceless. Contact us for pricing.
How Do You Charge?
Our fees are by the hour (in 15 minute increments), with a 2 hour minimum per session. If you want us to shop for your organizing supplies, time is billed at the lower rate than organizing. As an added value, we will often pick up items while shopping on our own that we believe will be useful for you. There is no charge for this type of shopping time. There is no charge for travel time or mileage as long as your location is within 30 minutes of our office. Payment is due at the end of each session, including time and any materials we’ve purchased for you. We accept cash, checks and credit cards. Contact us now to get started.
